Star Studded Recruits

White Out 2021

There’s a lot to look forward to for the upcoming 2022 season for Penn State football. Last year was an unfortunate let down for fans, however this season might be able to make them feel good again.

To start, Penn State has been able to secure a good amount of young, talented recruits. I think they will be able to bring a lot of surprising depth on both offense and defense. Three recruits that stand out to me coming into the season are Drew Allar, Nick Singleton and Dani Dennis-Sutton, all of which are five star recruits.

I’m excited to see what Drew Allar brings to the table. The 6’4” 232 pound quarterback was top notch at his high school in Medina, OH. In the 2021 season, he led his team ending the season with a 13-1 record. Out of 514 throws, he only had seven interceptions, which I think is impressive. He has a strong arm and isn’t afraid to run. Receiving multiple offers from top programs (such as Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa, etc.), he chose Penn State and I think that’s a big win for us. Overall, he is ranked 3rd overall and is currently the top-rated quarterback in the nation. Alongside Nick Singleton at running back, I think they will help take Penn State to the next step.

On the defensive side of things, I believe Dani Dennis-Sutton will be a threat in the Big Ten in the next coming years, regardless of whether or not he stays with the Nittany Lions. Coming out of Owings Mills, MD, he has been quick to show his work. He came in with a sub 5.0 time for the 40-yd dash. He is quick, and offers a good edge. Back in the 2019 season he was running the defense as a sophomore, helping his school to a 11-1 record. He received offers from Alabama and Georgia, both of which have been running college football for years now. Given some time and experience, I believe he would be an easy first round NFL pick.

All together, Penn State was able to recruit 23 new guys during National Signing Week. In an interview, head coach James Franklin said, “We probably have more new guys showing up on campus that have a chance to impact the roster as freshmen than maybe we’ve ever had.”
